• Coats Bangladesh Ltd. (1989):
A joint venture with world’s largest Sewing Thread Manufacturer Coats Vieylla Group of UK (presently known as Coats, Plc.). The JV is involved in producing export-oriented sewing thread.
• A.K. Khan-Penfabric Company Limited (2009):
A joint venture company with Penfabric Malaysia, 100% subsidiary of Toray Industries, Inc of Japan, for production of export oriented textile yarn. Commercial production of the first phase of Textile unit with 15,000 spindles has started in April 2011.
Negotiation is going on for further expansion and also to set up new JV for weaving, dyeing and finishing units.
• TM International Bangladesh Ltd. (1996):
A joint venture company with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (Known as AKTEL), Malaysia. It is the largest Malaysian Investment in GSM Technology in the cellular telecommunication sector of Bangladesh.
However, AKK’s stake had been sold to NTT Docomo, Japan in September 2008.
• A.K. Khan Water Health Bangladesh Ltd. (2010):
A K Khan WaterHealth (Bangladesh) Ltd. is a joint venture between A.K. Khan & Co. Ltd., Bangladesh; and WaterHealth International, USA with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, as an equity investor. The company was established with the goal of providing clean drinking water to rural and peri-urban areas through a decentralized community water system model. WaterHealth International’s patented technology platform allows purification of either surface or ground water which is dispensed at each A K Khan WaterHealth Center. The water is sold under the brand name of Dr. Water.
Each WaterHealth center is modular and can be put up in 48 hours once the site is ready. Regular monitoring ensures that the dispensed water adheres to WHO standards. Dedicated EHS department ensures all WaterHealth Centers adhere to international standards of environmental and work safety. Central lab is situated in Chittagong for conducting regular water tests. The decentralized business model, the untapped consumer market and the high demand for quality potable water offers a wealth of opportunity for ensuring sustainable revenue and creating positive social impact.
• AK-Panbo Agro Limited (2010):
A 100% export oriented mushroom project in collaboration with Panbo Systems BV, the Netherlands. Commercial production will commence in November 2013.
• AKCeycom Limited (1999):
The First Application Service Provider in Bangladesh. A joint venture between Ceylinco Consolidated Sri Lanka, the largest conglomerate in Sri Lanka and A. K. Khan & Company Ltd. Bangladesh.
• Bengal Fisheries Ltd. (1979):
A joint venture with the largest fishing company of the world, MARUHA NICHIRO CORPORATION of Japan. The JV is involved in deep-sea fishing and export to Japan.
• Khan-Elin Corporation Ltd. (1960):
A joint venture with Elin Union AG, Austria, a subsidiary of Siemens AG of Germany. The JV is involved in manufacturing electric motors, water pumps, electric fans, exhaust fans, transformers, switchboards and switchgears.
